General Rules

1. Swearing is allowed but only in an unoffensive way. You may not swear directly at another person OCC.

2. Please type out the whole word when you are posting. No IM or internet lingo. Also, plurals end in 's' and not 'z'. Also, 'u' is not a word; it is spelled 'you.'

3. Powers and magical abilities are not allowed.

4. You may only have up to three wolves at any given time.

5. Please make sure that you close all of your HTML tags. Also, be aware the javascript is strictly forbidden on the forums!

Aging Rules

1. There are four "general" age groups in Valley of the Golden Leaf: pup, teen, adult, and elder. Aging your wolf moves it from one group into another.

2. You may only age your wolf once a month. Begin counting from the date you joined; if you want to age your wolf, you'll have to wait exactly one month. Example: I joined on September 30th, and I wanted to age my wolf. I would have to wait until October 30th to do it.

3. Once your wolf gets to the elder stage, you may "retire" the wolf if you don't want to kill it off. That means that basically, your wolf is too old to fight and hold rank anymore, but if you wanted, you could still act as an adviser to the pack. Retired wolves don't count toward the maximum number of wolves you can have.

4. Only adults and elders can have a "mate". Teen wolves might have someone that they are affectionate towards, but they are not yet able to mate.

5. Litters of pups are required to age at the same time. Be sure, if you are splitting up a litter among players that they realize that they have to age at the same time!

Mate Rules

1. Mates are permanent. There is no such thing as divorce or 'fooling around' on your mate. It can cost a wolf their rank.

2. Alphas have no control over who mates with who. And you do not need your alphas' permission(s) to have a mate.

Breeding Rules

1. No overly detailed or graphic breeding. Please "fade to black" before it gets too detailed.

2. Breeding is allowed during any season, and you need not have your alphas' permission(s) to breed.

3. You may mention how many pups you would like to have, but ultimately, the choice is up to me. I'll tell you how many pups you have, including their sexes. Once the pups are no longer newborns (at least a real-life week), you must join them on the "join" board, including writing up their personalities, appearances, etc. Also, please mention who their parents are, and who will be playing which pup.

Pack Rules

1. Alphas are the leaders and rulers of the pack. Their word is law. They may exile a wolf or attack a wolf who is on their territory.

2. Alphas also determine all ranks within the pack. They can raise or lower your rank, but it's consider very bad manners to request a rank.

3. Teens and elders may have ranks, but only adults may be alphas. Pups don't get ranks.

4. Alphas are allowed to kill wolves in their pack or at their borders as they deem fair (they do not need to get my permission). This is the only time killing is allowed without prior consultation with me.

5. If you decide that you would like to create your own pack, you must find at least four other wolves who will go with you (four teens or adults). You must talk amongst yourselves to determine who will be the alpha, etc, then approach the alphas at the Rocks of the Alphas and present your claim to a territory. Also, you must have a name for your pack, which must consist of a color and a body part on a wolf. Example: Golden Paw Pack. Return to top

Hunting Rules

1. Each of the five areas (central, north, east, south, and west) has its own hunting area. This hunting area is the first area listed under the section. Hunting prey may only occur there.

2. Hunts can be one of two things primarily: they can be either be a solo hunt, where one person plays both the prey and the hunter, or it can be a duet, where one person plays the hunter and one person plays the prey. In order to avoid confusion, please leave an out-of-character comment what kind of hunt this is in your first post. Example:
((This is a solo hunt, please don't play the prey for me!))
Sorrelpaw wriggled down in the grass, her nose sniffing the air cautiously. A rabbit! Those were her favorite. She flattened her ears before springing into action, chasing the rabbit across the fields before running it down and digging into it.

3. Anyone can play prey for anyone else who needs them to, but if you've already arranged for someone to play your prey, just post an out of character note so that we know.

4. Wolves can be injured by their prey.

5. Prey can be anything ranging from mice to snakes to rabbits to birds to fish to boar to deer to goats and anything else you can think of, as long as wolves have a chance of bringing them down. No bears, cougars, lions, tigers, etc. please!

6. Prey for lone wolves can't be any bigger than a fawn/calf/kid/etc.

Fighting Rules

1. Official duels and fights for rank are only allowed at the Rocks of the Alphas. This is to keep the fights fair, as the other alphas will talk amongst themselves and judge before issuing an official win or loss. However, impromptu fights, such as over a female or something, may happen anywhere.

2. No godmoding, etc. Godmoding is when you post what happens to your opponent and saying where they get hurt. The trick is to post what could happen to the opponent if their wolf doesn't dodge fast enough (or something else), but make it clear that it might not happen. It all depends on what the other player posts in reply. Godmoding can also be making your character all-powerful and not taking any hits at all, or basically 'playing god' and being invincible. This is not allowed.

3. If you want to challenge someone to a duel over rank or anything, be sure to post it somewhere that the wolf will see it. The wolf's pack area is generally a good spot to begin.

4. If fighting over the alpha rank, you must defeat both alphas if there are two. If there is only one alpha, you must first defeat their beta wolf, then the alpha.

5. At least one real life month must pass between issuing challenges for your wolf.
